Dr. Steven Shell completed his undergraduate studies at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, where he majored in chemistry and psychology. He did post-baccalaureate work in physics, biochemistry and neurophysiology at Wright State University.
He finished medical school at the Ohio University College of Medicine, where he was awarded

He finished medical school at the Ohio University College of Medicine, where he was awarded a Research Scholarship and received the Outstanding Medical Student Award upon graduation.
He completed his residency in Family Medicine at University Hospitals, St. John Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Shell is Board Certified in Family Medicine, and recertified again in 2018.
He also has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Auburn University.
He is a team doctor for the Tampa Bay Rays when they come to town for spring training, and also volunteers at the Virginia B. Andes Community Clinic in Port Charlotte, treating the poor, uninsured and homeless.
Dr. Shell is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, President of the Charlotte County Medical Society, President of the Charlotte County Physician Hospital Organization, Treasurer on the Board of Directors at the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and Treasurer on the Board of Directors at the Harborside Center for the Arts.
He has been awarded the Sun-Herald newspaper Reader’s Choice Award for Best Primary Care Physician or Best Preventative Health Physician in Charlotte County seven times, in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018 and 2020.
He enjoys cooking, fishing, camping, traveling, and historic architecture.
Dr. Stephanie Shell completed her Bachelor’s degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where she majored in biology, minored in chemistry and received the award for Outstanding Medical School Candidate.

The official Blue Ocean Healthcare mascot is our beloved Golden Retriever Sophie. She has been with us in the office since she was a puppy, although she stays behind the scenes during office hours.
